...THUNDERSTORMS DEVELOPING OVER THE ELKHORN AND BOULDER MOUNTAINS 

WILL IMPACT SOUTHEASTERN LEWIS AND CLARK... BROADWATER AND EASTERN 

JEFFERSON COUNTIES THROUGH 345 PM MDT WITH ISOLATED LIGHTNING AND 

GUSTY WINDS...



At 254 PM MDT, Doppler radar was tracking thunderstorms developing 

over the Elkhorn and Boulder mountains, moving east at 30 mph. 

Isolated lightning is occurring with these storms along with brief 

rainfall. Strong wind gusts to around 50 mph are possible as these 

storms move off the mountains. Gusty winds and lightning are likely 

to impact locations near Canyon Ferry Lake by 330 PM. 



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects.



Locations impacted include...

Helena, Townsend, East Helena, Three Forks, Whitehall, Pony, Montana

City, Toston, Harrison, Alhambra, Spring Meadow Lake State Park,

Corbin, Missouri Headwaters State Park, Cardwell, Winston,

Radersburg, Silos, Clancy, Jefferson City, and Madison Buffalo Jump

State Park.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



If on or near Canyon Ferry Lake, get out of the water and move 

indoors or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 

10 miles from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you 

are close enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter 

now! Do not be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
