...STRONG TO SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED ACROSS GILA...MARICOPA AND

PINAL COUNTIES...



At 614 PM MST, radar indicated strong thunderstorms were located

south of Phoenix. Movement was northeast at 15 mph.



Conditions are becoming more favorable for the development of 

additional thunderstorms across South-Central Arizona. Some storms 

may become strong to severe.



Winds in excess of 40 mph and pea size hail will be possible.



Strong, gusty winds will be capable of producing areas of blowing

dust with reduced visibilities.



Locations impacted include...

Phoenix, Mesa, Chandler, Glendale, Scottsdale, Gilbert, Tempe,

Peoria, Surprise, Avondale, Goodyear, Buckeye, Casa Grande, Apache

Junction, El Mirage, Florence, Fountain Hills, Paradise Valley,

Coolidge, and Tolleson.



Torrential rainfall is also occurring with these storms, and may

cause localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded

roadways.



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.



These storms may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
