The National Weather Service in Lubbock has issued a Red Flag Warning, which is in effect from 9 AM to 9 PM CDT Sunday. The Fire Weather Watch is no longer in effect, and the Red Flag Warning previously in effect for Saturday has expired. * Wind...West at 15 to 20 mph during the morning. Winds will then become northeast at 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 40 mph behind a cold front during the afternoon. The wind shift will first affect the southern Texas Panhandle around midday, then affect the South Plains and Rolling Plains later in the afternoon. * Humidity...As low as 5 percent. * Fuels...Extremely dry. * Impacts...Any fires that develop can spread rapidly. Outdoor burning is discouraged. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme fire behavior. && $$
