...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT WESTERN MECKLENBURG...

SOUTHEASTERN GASTON AND NORTH CENTRAL YORK COUNTIES THROUGH 845 PM

EDT...



At 815 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7

miles north of York, or near Clover, moving northeast at 20 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and penny size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Steele Creek, Crowders, South Gastonia, Lowell, Clover, Lake Wylie,

Cramerton, Bethany, Mcadenville, and Gastonia.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



If on or near Lake Wylie, get out of the water and move indoors or 

inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles 

from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close 

enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not 

be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.



A Severe Thunderstorm Watch remains in effect until midnight EDT for

the Piedmont of North Carolina...and Upstate South Carolina.
