...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of south central

Lexington, northeastern Aiken and west central Orangeburg Counties

through 400 AM EDT...



At 337 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm 7

miles east of Aiken Municipal Airport, or 12 miles northeast of

Aiken, moving east at 25 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and penny size hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Aiken State Park, Wagener, Pelion, Salley, Perry, Perry Airport,

Thor, and New Holland.



This includes Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 24

and 30.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.



This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
