...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of McDuffie, Columbia,

central Richmond, southwestern Edgefield and southern McCormick

Counties through 400 AM EDT...



At 329 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over

Thomson-McDuffie County Airport, or over Thomson, moving east at 40

mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Grovetown, Evans, Thomson, Martinez, Fort Eisenhower, Harlem,

Appling, South Augusta, Riverwood, Thomson-McDuffie County Airport, 

Wrightsboro, Dearing, Liberty Park Community Center, Glenn Hills, 

McDuffie County Fire Department, Thomson Fire Department, and 

McDuffie Regional Medical Center.



This includes the following highways...

 Interstate 20 in Georgia between mile markers 166 and 198.

 Interstate 520 in Georgia between mile markers 1 and 6.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.



This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
