...A strong thunderstorm will impact portions of northeastern

Edgefield, southern Saluda and north central Aiken Counties through

145 AM EDT...



At 117 AM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Johnston, or 18 miles west of Batesburg-Leesville, moving east at 25

mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor damage to outdoor objects is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Batesburg-Leesville, Edgefield, Johnston, Ridge Spring, Saluda County

Airport, Monetta, Ward, Emory, Strom Thurmond High School, Harmony,

Hibernia, and Northside Fire Station Main.



This includes Interstate 20 in South Carolina between mile markers 32

and 33.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.

Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe

shelter inside a building or vehicle.



This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
