...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT CENTRAL GRAND ISLE...NORTH

CENTRAL CHITTENDEN AND SOUTHWESTERN FRANKLIN COUNTIES THROUGH 130 PM

EDT...



At 1228 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near

Grand Isle, moving east at 15 mph.



HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 50 mph and half inch hail.



SOURCE...Radar indicated.



IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around 

         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

St. Albans City, Fairfax, Georgia, Grand Isle, St. Albans Town,

Georgia Center, North Hero, Fletcher, Fairfield, Sheldon, Isle La

Motte, Milton, South Hero, Swanton, Burton Island State Park, Butler

Island, Hazen Point, Hen Island, Grand Isle State Park, and Lazy Lady

Island.



This includes Interstate 89 between mile markers 105 and 119.

 

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. 



This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio

stations and available television stations for additional information

and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.



If on or near Lake Champlain, get out of the water and move indoors 

or inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles 

from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close 

enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not 

be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
