...A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 445 PM EDT

FOR NORTHEASTERN MORRIS AND SOUTHEASTERN SUSSEX COUNTIES...



At 418 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm was located over Green Pond, or 

8 miles southwest of West Milford, moving east at 30 mph. This storm 

has a history of producing wind damage in Sussex County.



HAZARD...60 mph wind gusts and nickel size hail.



SOURCE...Emergency management.



IMPACT...Damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is 

         possible.



Locations impacted include...

Dover, Hopatcong, Lincoln Park, Kinnelon, Boonton, Butler, Wharton,

Rockaway, Mount Arlington, Franklin, Mountain Lakes, Riverdale,

Ogdensburg, Andover, Lake Mohawk, Pequannock Township, Lake Telemark,

Green Pond, Highland Lake, and White Meadow Lake.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a

building.



Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move

indoors immediately. Lightning is one of nature's leading killers.

Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck

by lightning.
