* WHAT... Cold Weather Advisory: Very cold wind chills as low as 40 

  below zero.

  High Wind Watch: Northeast winds 40 to 55 mph gusting up to 75 mph 

  late Friday night through Saturday evening.



* WHERE...Thompson Pass.



* WHEN...For the Cold Weather Advisory, until 4 PM AKST Friday. For 

  the High Wind Watch, from late Friday night through Saturday 

  evening.



* IMPACTS...Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 40 below zero 

  could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 minutes. 

  Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these 

  temperatures. High winds could move loose debris and cause damage. 

  Travel could be difficult; especially for high profile vehicles.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



A high wind watch means there is potential for a hazardous high wind 

event. Monitor the latest forecasts and warnings for updates on this 

situation. Fasten loose objects or shelter objects in a safe 

location prior to the onset of winds.

* WHEN...Until 4 PM AKST Friday.



* IMPACTS...Dangerously cold temperatures as low as 40 to 50 below 

  zero could cause frostbite on exposed skin in as little as 5 

  minutes. Frostbite and hypothermia are likely if exposed to these 

  temperatures.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Overnight low temperatures below -40F are 

  expected through Friday morning, warming to the -10s and -20s when 

  cloud cover builds in.
