The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a



* Special Marine Warning for...

  Big Island Leeward Waters...



* Until noon HST.



* At 1100 AM HST, thunderstorms capable of producing waterspouts 

  were located west of the Big Island along a line extending from 13 

  nm northwest of FAD Buoy F to 34 nm west of FAD Buoy TT, moving 

  northeast at 15 knots.



  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts 34 knots or greater.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally 

           hazardous seas. Small craft could be damaged in briefly 

           higher winds and suddenly higher waves.



* Locations impacted include...

  Keahole Point and FAD Buoy F.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Prepare for gusty winds, steep and fast-building seas, and blinding

downpours. Stay low or go below, and make sure all on board are

wearing life jackets.



Thunderstorms can produce sudden waterspouts. Waterspouts can easily

overturn boats and create locally hazardous seas. Seek safe harbor

immediately.
