...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 845 PM MST THIS EVENING...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Areas near Paulden and Chino Valley.



* WHEN...Until 845 PM MST.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in creeks and normally dry washes is 

  imminent or occurring. Dangerous flooding over low-water 

  crossings. Water flowing over roadways will create slick roads and 

  muddy unpaved roads. Ponding of water on interstates, highways and 

  in urban areas will create hazardous travel conditions.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 543 PM MST, trained weather spotters reported heavy rain

    in the advisory area due to thunderstorms. Minor flooding is

    ongoing or expected to begin shortly. Between 1 and 2.25

    inches of rain have fallen.

  - This includes the following creeks, washes and rivers...

    Walnut Creek, Dillon Wash, Williamson Valley Wash, Granite

    Creek, Butte Wash, Pine Creek, Bottleneck Wash, Little Chino

    Valley, Antelope Wash, Quartz Lead Wash, Verde River, Cooper

    Wash, Mud Tank Wash, Big Chino Wash and Mint Wash.

    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.25 to 0.5 inches are

    expected over the area. This additional rain will result in

    minor flooding.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Chino Valley, Prescott, Sullivan Buttes, Paulden, Williamson

    Valley and Granite Mountain Wilderness.

  - This includes State Route 89 between mile markers 325 and

    339.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Low water crossings will become dangerous in heavy rain. Do not 

attempt to cross flooded roads. Find an alternate route.
