...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 315 AM MDT EARLY THIS MORNING...



* WHAT...Arroyo and small stream flooding caused by excessive 

  rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Portions of northwestern Sierra County in southern New 

  Mexico, including Winston and Chloride.



* WHEN...Until 315 AM MDT.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

  Water over roadways.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1215 AM MDT, Heavy rainfall has occurred in arroyos north

    and west and Winston and Chloride. This will result in minor

    flooding of arroyos, and may inundate low water crossings,

    especially around Chloride, and along Highway 52 north of

    Winston, along Poverty Creek.

  - Additional rainfall of up to 0.5 to 1 inch is expected over

    the area.

  - Some locations that may experience flooding include...

    Winston and Chloride.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Remain alert for flooding even in locations not receiving rain. 

Arroyos, streams, and rivers can become raging killer currents in a 

matter of minutes, even from distant rainfall.
