The Flood Advisory is cancelled for portions of central and west 

central Virginia, including the following areas and independent 

cities, in central Virginia, Amherst. In west central Virginia, 

Botetourt, City of Roanoke, City of Salem and Roanoke.



Flooding is no longer expected to pose a threat. Please continue to 

heed remaining road closures.

...FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1 AM EDT FRIDAY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues.



* WHERE...Portions of central and south central Virginia, including 

  the following counties and independent city, in central Virginia, 

  Appomattox, Campbell and City of Lynchburg. In south central 

  Virginia, Bedford.



* WHEN...Until 100 AM EDT.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas. 

  Water over roadways. Ponding of water in urban or other areas is 

  occurring or is imminent.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1158 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to

    thunderstorms. Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin

    shortly in the advisory area. Between 1 and 2.5 inches of

    rain have fallen.

  - This includes the following streams and drainages...

    Bold Branch, Bear Creek, Buffalo Creek, Bowler Creek, Bent

    Creek, Big Otter River, Bear Branch and Blackwater Creek.

    Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to 1 inch are expected

    over the area. This additional rain will result in minor

    flooding.

including mudslides or flooded roads, to the National Weather
