...FLASH FLOOD WATCH FOR THE POTENTIAL FAILURE OF THE LEVEES AND 

DIKES OF THE SKAGIT RIVER BELOW SEDRO-WOOLEY TO THE MOUTH OF THE 

SKAGIT RIVER REMAINS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE FRIDAY NIGHT...



* WHAT...Flash Flooding caused by a potential dam or levee failure 

  continues to be possible for the levees and dikes of the Skagit 

  River below Sedro-Wooley to the mouth of the Skagit River.



* WHERE...A portion of northwest Washington, including the following 

  area, Lowlands of Western Skagit and Northwestern Snohomish 

  Counties.



* WHEN...Through late Friday night.



* IMPACTS...Dike and levee failure may result in flash flooding. 

  Extensive flooding of streets, homes, and farmland will be 

  possible.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - This flash flood threat is in additional the to the major

    flooding expected on the Skagit River. Heavy rain is causing

    extreme flooding of the Skagit River that is forecast to

    surpass the height of the dike and levee structures. This

    pressure may cause them to fail, which would cause inundation

    in areas from Burlington and Mount Vernon into Padilla Bay

    and Skagit Bay.

  possible.



* WHERE...Portions of northwest and west central Washington, 

  including the following counties, in northwest Washington, 

  Clallam, Grays Harbor, Island, Jefferson, Kitsap, Mason, San Juan, 

  Skagit and Whatcom. In west central Washington, King, Lewis, 

  Pierce, Snohomish and Thurston.



* WHEN...Through Friday afternoon.



* IMPACTS...Area creeks and streams are running high and could flood 

  with more heavy rain.

  - Rain continues tonight into Friday but the heaviest rain is

    over.
