Flash Flood Warning

The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  East Central Valencia County in central New Mexico...



* Until 600 AM MDT.



* At 301 AM MDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated 

  thunderstorms with heavy rain moving slowly northwest across the 

  warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen around 

  Meadow Lake and on the mesas east of Peralta, Valencia, and 

  Tome-Adelino. Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are 

  possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected 

  to begin shortly.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.



  SOURCE...Radar and automated gauges.



  IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban

           areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as

           other poor drainage and low-lying areas.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Los Lunas, Valencia, El Cerro Mission, Rio Communities North, 

  Meadow Lake, Tome, Peralta and Adelino.



Flash flooding may occur along portions of State Road 263, Sandhill 

Road, Manzano Expressway, and La Entrada Road.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
