The National Weather Service in Melbourne has issued a



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  Northeastern Brevard County in east central Florida...



* Until 1145 PM EDT.



* At 952 PM EDT, local law enforcement reported thunderstorms 

  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 7 and 12 

  inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 2 to 3 

  inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already 

  occurring.



  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms

           producing flash flooding.



  SOURCE...Law enforcement reported.



  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,

           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Rockledge, Cocoa, Cocoa Beach, Cape Canaveral, Sharpes, Port Saint 

  John, Port Canaveral, Merritt Island, Jetty Park, Canaveral 

  Groves, Merritt Island Wildlife Refuge and Bellwood.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.



Please report observed flooding to local emergency services or law 

enforcement and request they pass this information to the National 

Weather Service when you can do so safely.
