...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EDT THIS MORNING...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Portions of central and southern New Jersey, including the 

  following counties, in central New Jersey, Monmouth. In southern 

  New Jersey, Ocean.



* WHEN...Until 700 AM EDT.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 

  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 248 AM EDT, Doppler radar and automated rain gauges

    indicated earlier heavy rain due to thunderstorms. As a

    result of runoff from this heavy rainfall, water levels on

    the North Branch of the Metedeconk River are rising. Flooding

    is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.

    Between 2.5 and 3.5 inches of rain have fallen.

  - Additional rainfall amounts up to 0.5 inches are possible in

    the warned area.

  - For N. Branch Metedeconk River at Lakewood:

    At 2:15am the stage was 7.6 feet.

    Flood Stage is 8 feet.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around...don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most 

flood deaths occur in vehicles.
