...FLOOD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 3 AM EDT WEDNESDAY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall is expected.



* WHERE...Portions of central, northern, and northwest Virginia, 

  including the following counties, in central Virginia, Orange. In 

  northern Virginia, Culpeper. In northwest Virginia, Madison.



* WHEN...Until 300 AM EDT Wednesday.



* IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying 

  and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 901 PM EDT, gauge reports indicated rises on medium stem

    rivers and streams due to earlier rainfall. Flooding is

    ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the warned area.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Orange...                          Brightwood...

    Locust Dale...                     Madison Mills...

    Twymans Mill...                    Oakpark...

    Rapidan...                         Montford...

    Montpelier Station...

  - The Robinson River at Locust Dale is expected to reach flood

    stage.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood 

deaths occur in vehicles.



Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the 

dangers of flooding.
