...FLOOD ADVISORY IN EFFECT UNTIL 215 AM HST SUNDAY FOR THE ISLAND 

OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY...



* WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall.



* WHERE...The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County.



* WHEN...Until 215 AM HST.



* IMPACTS...Minor flooding on roads, poor drainage areas, and in 

  streams.



* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...

  - At 1118 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the southeast

    slopes of the Big Island from Volcano to Naalehu. Additional

    rainfall is expected to move in over leeward Big Island from

    the west. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per

    hour.

  - Some locations that will experience flooding include...

    Hilo, Kailua-Kona, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Captain Cook,

    Waikoloa Village, Kapaau, Honokaa, Pohakuloa Training Area,

    Pohakuloa Camp, Volcano, Wood Valley, Glenwood, Honaunau,

    Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Honalo, Mountain View,

    Kainaliu, Kealakekua and Puuanahulu.





PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone 

to flooding.

persists.
