The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the



* Flash Flood Warning for...

  The island of Maui in Maui County



* Until 900 PM HST.



* At 539 PM HST, radar indicated heavy showers and thunderstorms 

  redeveloping over West Maui, with rain falling at rates of 1 to 2 

  inches per hour. Flooding remains ongoing. Stream levels remain 

  high across West Maui, and emergency management recently reported 

  road closures in the Lahaina, Kahului, and Wailuku areas.



  HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by heavy rain.



  SOURCE...Radar.



  IMPACT...Flooding in drainages, streams, rivers, roads,

           properties, and other low-lying areas. Public road

           closures possible in some areas. Landslides are

           possible in steep terrain.



* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...

  Kahului, Kihei, Lahaina, Waikapu, Maalaea, Wailuku, Waiehu, 

  Waihee, Paia, Olowalu, Makawao, Kahakuloa, Wailea, Kula, Keokea, 

  and Pauwela.



PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...



Stay away from streams, rivers, drainage ditches, and culverts, even 

if they are currently dry.

persists.
