In 1980, the high in Wichita reached 101, the first of 18 

consecutive days when and where the temperature exceeded 100 

degrees. This would become the second longest streak of 100 degree 

plus days in Wichitas climatic history. The record is 20, set from 

August 7th to August 26th, 1936.
