In 1989, 158 reports of large hail and damaging winds were received 

across the Southern Plains. In Northeast Texas, softball sized hail 

caused $5 million damage in the town of Allen. In Dallas, winds 

gusted to 90 mph, injuring 8 people and causing $7 million damage.
