NOUS41 KWBC 061725 PNSWSH Service Change Notice 26-42 National Weather Service Headquarters Silver Spring MD 125 PM EDT Wed May 6, 2026 To: Subscribers: -NOAA Weather Wire Service -Emergency Managers Weather Information Network -NOAAPort Other NWS Partners, Users and Employees From: Kathryn Gilbert, Deputy Director Weather Prediction Center Subject: Changes to the Selected Cities and National High/Low Temperature Products Effective on or about July 22, 2026 Effective on or about July 22, 2026, the National Weather Service (NWS) will separate the National High/Low (Hi/Lo) product from the Selected Cities (SCS) product to better align issuance of the National Hi/Lo product with the extreme temperatures recorded in the past day. The SCS is a four page text product that reports weather from the previous day and provides a two-day forecast for numerous cities across the United States. The SCS is issued two times a day, at 0100 and 1300 UTC. Currently, the last page of the SCS (SCS04) also provides the extreme temperature (high and low) across the contiguous United States (CONUS) recorded in the past day, which is retrieved from the National Hi/Lo product. The National Hi/Lo section on the SCS04 will be replaced with a permanent web link to the National Hi/Lo product. The issuance times for the National Hi/Lo product will transition from four times a day at 0050, 0650, 1250, and 1850 UTC to two times a day at 0230 and 1800 UTC. The changes in issuance time will provide additional time to capture possible high and/or low temperature extremes from the Western United States and provide better quality extreme temperature data for the product. The 0230 UTC issuance includes preliminary low and high temperatures for the calendar day (based on local time), while the 1800 UTC issuance serves as the final update for the previous calendar day’s low and high temperatures. The Selected Cities product is in four pages and available at: https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&product=SCS&is suedby=01 https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&product=SCS&is suedby=02 https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&product=SCS&is suedby=03 https://forecast.weather.gov/product.php?site=NWS&product=SCS&is suedby=04 Currently, the National High and Low Temperature product is available at: https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/discussions/hpcdiscussions.php?dis c=nathilo Once the change is implemented, the new page will be available at: https://www.wpc.ncep.noaa.gov/national_highlow/index.php Products to be separated: Product Name AWIPS ID WMO Heading ---------------- -------- ----------- Selected Cities SCS01,02,03,04 FPUS20 KWBN XF03DY RXUS30 KWBN National High/Low XTEUS RXUS30 KWNH If you have questions regarding these changes, please contact: Zack Taylor Weather Integration and Analysis Section Chief NWS Weather Prediction Center College Park, MD zack.taylor@noaa.gov National Service Change Notices are available at: https://www.weather.gov/notification/
