Generalized Statewide Coastal Waters Forecast for Hawaii

.Synopsis for Hawaiian coastal waters...

 A weak cold front is slowly progressing southeastward across the

central waters around Maui this afternoon, where it is expected

to stall this evening and dissipate by Friday. Gentle to moderate

northerlies are filtering in behind the front with light and

variable winds downstream. Another front will approach and

possibly enter the northwestern coastal waters around Kauai late

Saturday into Sunday, where it will then stall. Light

southeasterlies will veer more southwesterly and strengthen on

Saturday as the front approaches, becoming more westerly behind

the front. Numerous showers with locally heavy rain and isolated

thunderstorms are possible in association with this frontal

boundary. The proximity of this feature will also maintain a

southerly flow across most of the region through the rest of the

forecast period.

.FRIDAY NIGHT...South southeast winds 10 to 15 knots. Seas 6 to

7 feet. Wave Detail: North 5 feet at 10 seconds. Isolated

showers. 

.SATURDAY...South southwest winds 7 to 10 knots Alenuihaha

Channel...south southwest 15 to 20 knots elsewhere. Seas 5 to

7 feet. Wave Detail: North 5 feet at 10 seconds. Scattered

showers. 

.SATURDAY NIGHT...South southwest winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 5 to

7 feet. Occasional showers with isolated thunderstorms. 

.SUNDAY...winds variable less than 10 knots to Kauai...south

10 to 15 knots elsewhere. Seas 6 to 9 feet. Occasional heavy

showers with isolated thunderstorms. 

.SUNDAY NIGHT...South southeast winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 7 to

10 feet. Occasional heavy showers with isolated thunderstorms. 

.MONDAY...Alenuihaha Channel, south southwest winds 15 to

20 knots, becoming southwest 7 to 10 knots. Elsewhere, south

winds 15 to 20 knots. Seas 6 to 9 feet. Occasional heavy showers

with isolated thunderstorms. 

.TUESDAY...South southeast winds 20 to 25 knots, becoming south

15 to 20 knots. Seas 8 to 11 feet. Numerous heavy showers with

isolated thunderstorms.
