The thunderstorm has moved north out of the Sumner Strait area.  The

threat of high winds and frequent lightning continues for areas to

the north and towards Cape Fanshaw.

Sumner Strait...



At 1236 PM AKDT, a strong thunderstorm was located northeast of Kake,

moving northeast at 25 knots.  This storm will bring the potential

for sudden winds to near 50 kt and frequent lightning strikes.  The

strongest part of this storm will approach Cape Fanshaw and the

surrounding waters through 1 PM.



HAZARD...Wind gusts to nearly 50 knots.



SOURCE...Satellite imagery indicated.



IMPACT...Small craft could capsize in briefly higher winds and

         suddenly higher waves.



Locations impacted include...

  Cape Fanshaw, Five Finger Light, Kake and Point Gambier.

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.
