FXUS66 KMFR 271131 AFDMFR Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Medford OR 431 AM PDT Mon Oct 27 2025 .DISCUSSION...Frost Advisories and Dense Fog Advisories remain in place for west side valleys this morning, with Freeze Warnings in place for Siskiyou COunty valleys. Tripcheck webcams show foggy conditions along the 1-5 at Canyon Mountain and Sexton Summit. Visibilities are fluctuating at the Medford airport, and there's chances for early morning development at Klamath Falls as well. Any development should clear out later this morning, with temperatures warming out of frost/freeze levels as well. A developing upper ridge will help temperatures warm slightly today but remain cool. This ridge will determine general conditions across the area for most of the week. For Tuesday and beyond, daytime highs will be at or ~5 degrees above seasonal levels. This will keep west side valleys in the mid 60s to low 70s. Easterly flow will bring similar temperatures to coastal areas, with daytime highs for coastal cities in the mid to high 60s. East side areas look to generally be in the low to mid 60s, while lower elevation areas in Modoc and eastern Siskiyou counties could also approach the high 60s. This additional daytime warming will help to keep west side lows out of frost/freeze levels through the week. A pair of fronts remain in the forecast for this week, although both look unimpactful. A weak front may bring coastal showers Wednesday morning, but current precipitation chances are slight (20-40%) and forecast amounts top out at 0.1 inches. The second front looks to pass over from Saturday morning into Sunday morning, with moderate precipitation chances (30-60%) across areas west of the Cascades indicating uncertainty with timing. Currently forecast rainfall amounts are higher than the first front, but still limited to 0.5- 0.75 inches over coastal terrain and lower amounts inland. -TAD && .AVIATION...27/12Z TAFs...IFR to LIFR levels continue for Roseburg and Medford terminals as valley fog lingers in low elevation areas west of the Cascades. Chances for fog also remain for the Klamath Basin, although there are no signs of development at the start of the TAF period. With fog looking to clear out before this afternoon, VFR levels are expected across the area through midday and this evening under a stable atmospheric pattern. Persisting conditions could bring fog back to west side valleys towards the end of the TAF period, but daytime drying will work against that. -TAD && .MARINE...Updated 200 PM PDT Sunday, October 26, 2025...Relatively calm conditions are likely today and Tuesday. A thermal trough will develop behind a front Wednesday bringing moderate to occasionally strong north winds south of Cape Blanco, with Small Craft conditions possible. This should be a short duration event with the thermal trough expected to expand north and weaken Thursday afternoon. There's good agreement another front will slowly move towards the marine waters towards the end of the week with winds becoming south. The front is expected to stay far enough north to keep wind speeds in check, but it's still a ways out and the forecast could change in the days to come. -Petrucelli && .MFR WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...
