FXUS65 KVEF 271713 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 1013 AM PDT Mon Oct 27 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Areas of breezy north winds are expected through the first half of the week, peaking on Tuesday. * Dry weather and seasonable temperatures persist through the upcoming week. && .DISCUSSION...through Sunday. As the weekend trough pushes off to our east, high pressure builds across the eastern Great Basin and northern Rockies. The resultant N- S pressure gradient will drive northerly breezes for the first half of the week. Most days and locations, gusts of 15-25 mph can be expected. However, as the gradient maximizes on Tuesday, so too will the winds. Strongest winds are expected in the lower Colorado River Valley, where gusts of 30-40 mph are likely (50-70%). Main concern will be increased waves and hazardous boating on the lakes. Winds subside in the second half of the week. Beyond the winds, expecting quite pleasant conditions across the region as high pressure builds. Temperatures are forecast to run near or slightly above normal for late October, with most locations topping out in the 70s and 80s. Dry conditions prevail as precipitation chances remain below 10%. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Wind will be the concern. Northeasterly winds should reach the terminal by noon, and the best chance for 10+ knots is between 19z and 22z with a 40% probability. If they do exceed this threshold, the direction will be between 010 and 070. Winds should weaken and turn back westerly around sunset, if not before. Another push of north to northeast winds could reach the terminal overnight, but the more likely scenario (~60% chance) is for these winds to affect Nellis AFB and areas down the Colorado River. Tuesday will likely see the strongest northeasterly winds at the terminal, with sustained speeds around 10 knots beginning in the morning. Stronger gusts cannot be ruled out. Mostly clear skies. For the rest of southern Nevada, northwest Arizona and southeast California...For the 18Z Forecast Package...Expect northerly breezes through this afternoon, with the strongest gusts of 20 to 30 knots in rural areas of Esmeralda and Nye counties. Northerly winds will increase overnight and persist through Tuesday, with the strongest gusts of 30 to 40 knots expected in areas of north-south oriented terrain, such as the Colorado River Valley and Death Valley. Mostly clear skies. && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...Spotters are encouraged to report any significant weather or impacts according to standard operating procedures. && $$ DISCUSSION...Woods AVIATION...Woods For more forecast information...see us on our webpage: https://weather.gov/lasvegas or follow us on Facebook and Twitter
