FXUS65 KVEF 122240 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 240 PM PST Fri Dec 12 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Warm and mild weather will continue across southeastern California, southern Nevada, and northwestern Arizona into next week. * There is a 10 to 20% chance for precipitation in the crest of the Eastern during the second half of the week. && .DISCUSSION...through next Friday. Temperatures will remain warmer than normal through next week as high pressure and higher than normal 500 mb heights persist across the region. A weak shortwave will roll through the region over the weekend, resulting in a slight decrease in 500 mb heights and an increase in cloud cover. As a result, temperatures will cool a few degrees over the weekend. However, even with this slight decrease in temperatures, the region will still remain around 10 to 15 degrees above normal for mid-December through next week. A quick moving shortwave will roll through the Pacific Northwest on Wednesday, bringing a slight (10 to 20%) chance of precipitation to the crest of the Eastern Sierra in northern Inyo County. Any precipitation that does fall will be light and with snow levels above 9,000 feet no significant accumulations are expected. Another shortwave will roll through the Pacific Northwest later in the week, which will also result in a slight chance of precipitation for the Eastern Sierra Crest in northern Inyo County. Outside of the Sierra Crest, the rest of the area will remain dry as we find ourselves under dry westerly flow aloft. The only evidence of these systems passing by to our north will be periods of increased cloud cover. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 00Z Forecast Package...Winds follow typical daily directional patterns with speeds of less than 8 knots throughout the forecast period.
