FXUS65 KVEF 120848 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 1248 PM PST Fri Dec 12 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... * Outside of breezy northerly winds in the Colorado River Valley, dry and mild conditions along with warmer than normal temperatures will continue into next week. * Moisture moving into central California midweek may bring some high elevation snow to the Sierra in northern Inyo County from Wednesday onward. && .DISCUSSION...through next Friday. Breezy north winds will linger down the Colorado River Valley for a few more days, with afternoon gusts peaking in the 20 to 30 mph range each day. These increased winds will also result in choppy waters between Laughlin/Bullhead City and Needles, and marine interests in this area should continue to exercise caution. Otherwise, weather across the region will remain dry and mild through the first part of next week. Near to record warm temperatures will continue today (see the climate section below for more details). A series of shortwave troughs embedded within the upper-level flow will move through the region over the weekend, bringing periods of increased cloud cover. This cloud cover, along with lowering 500mb heights, will allow temperatures to decrease a few degrees. However, even with this decrease, temperatures will remain well above normal through next week. By the second half of next week, both the ECMWF and GFS ensembles show a moderate atmospheric river event bringing increased moisture levels into central California. While most of this moisture is expected to be intercepted by the Sierra, some light snow accumulations will be possible along the Sierra crest in northern Inyo County. At this time, amounts are expected to be light and no significant impacts are anticipated, but details should become clearer as we move into next week. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 06Z Forecast Package...Light winds and VFR conditions will persist through the TAF period.
