FXUS65 KVEF 051041 AFDVEF Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Las Vegas NV 241 AM PST Thu Nov 5 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... * Northerly winds will pick up Friday and Saturday, with stronger speeds and elevated wave heights along the Colorado River Valley. Otherwise, quiet conditions. && .DISCUSSION...Today through Wednesday. Heights will drop and clouds will increase this afternoon as a result of an approaching shortwave, which will keep temperatures below-normal for another day. This shortwave will continue to strengthen as it sags southward before closing off on Friday over central Arizona. Meanwhile, a growing ridge of high pressure in the eastern Pacific Ocean will nose into the Great Basin, allowing temperatures to gradually climb late-week into the weekend. The increased pressure gradients as a result of a ridge to our north and a closed low to our southeast will bring gusty north winds to the forecast area on Friday and Saturday with speeds generally between 15 and 25 mph. However, due to topographic enhancement along the Colorado River Valley, expect locally higher sustained wind speeds of 15 to 25 mph and gusts to 40 mph. A Lake Wind Advisory has been issued for Lake Mohave and Lake Havasu from early Friday morning through Saturday afternoon as a result, with expected wave heights between 2 and 3 feet. Heights continue to rise over the region through the remainder of the weekend and into next week, resulting in dry conditions and gradually warming temperatures. && .AVIATION...For Harry Reid...For the 12Z Forecast Package...Light winds will persist through today and tonight.
