.KEY MESSAGES...



- An upper level low dropping into the Great Basin late Monday

  will spark widespread showers and thunderstorms persisting

  through early Wednesday.



- Moisture becomes confined to eastern/southeastern Utah for the

  remainder of the week.

.DISCUSSION...Dry and stable conditions remain across the region

with temperatures running 5-7 degrees cooler than normal across

northern Utah and near normal across southern Utah. Moisture

starts to advect back into Utah and SW Wyoming tomorrow as an

upper-level low swings into the Great Basin. This low will

initiate convection across southern Utah late Monday with moisture

spreading north and into northern Utah by Tuesday. PWATs approach

the 90th percentile for this time of year, but storm motion will

be fast enough to limit flooding impacts except for areas that

experience any training storms. Steep lapse rates and 30-50 kts 

of shear will help storms mature and stay mature. Some isolated

strong thunderstorms will be possible.



As the low tracks to the east conditions will become quieter

across most of Utah, but moisture will remain elevated across

southeastern Utah through much of the week. This late monsoon

moisture tap will keep diurnal storm chances each day across areas

of southeastern Utah.

.AVIATION...



KSLC...VFR conditions will persist across the KSLC airspace through 

the TAF period with diurnal wind shifts. The next wind shift to 

southeasterly is expected around 04z. 



REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...VFR conditions are expected to 

persist across all terminals through the TAF period with diurnal 

wind shifts.

.FIRE WEATHER...Cool, dry, and stable conditions will continue areawide until Monday

evening when showers and storms move into southern Utah thanks to

an area of low pressure moving into the Great Basin. These storms

will be moving from south to north, arriving in northern Utah on 

Tuesday. These storms will be fast moving, but rainfall rates will

be high enough to quickly produce wetting rains. Some strong 

storms will be embedded within the complex which will be capable 

of strong and erratic winds, frequent lightning, and some hail. 

Conditions become mostly dry and stable by Wednesday, except for

areas of eastern Utah that hold on to moisture, with near normal 

conditions persisting through the remainder of the week.
