morning. Freeze Warning in effect through 8 am.



- Hotter temperatures return heading into next week. Fire weather 

risk will start increasing again.

Subfreezing temperatures will persist into the early morning hours 

today, assisted by decreased cloud cover. Forecast low temps are 

still widely in the mid-20s over most of the plains, though 

temperatures will rebound quickly once the sun rises.



Today, very warm and dry across SE Colorado. High temperatures will 

be in the 60s to low-70s, warmest over the eastern plains, with no 

expected precip. Winds will also be on the lighter side, leading to 

a generally mild day. Cool overnight tonight, though the plains are 

expected to remain above freezing. Current data shows lows in the 

high-30s to low-40s. Meanwhile, the higher terrain and mountain 

valleys will be in the 20s-30s.

A warming trend will continue across the area as a broad upper ridge 

builds in over the eastern CONUS. Daytime temps will climb into the 

70s-80s over the weekend, and potentially into the 90s out east 

early next week. Chances for fire weather concerns increase starting 

on Saturday, mainly over portions of the Upper Arkansas River Valley 

and our western mountains. Surface conditions will be dry, and winds 

over the higher terrain will be occasionally gusty during the 

afternoon hours. Little to no precipitation is expected at this 

time, besides and isolated shower or two over the mountains on 

Saturday and Sunday.

VFR conditions are expected at KCOS and KPUB for the next 24 hours. 

Lingering mist and log stratus will linger at KALS occasionally for 

the next 2 to 3 hours, with VFR conditions expected after 15Z. Winds 

will be light and diurnally driven at all three stations, with gusts 

less than 15kt. Scattered middle and upper-level clouds are expected 

through much of the forecast period.
