Issued at 1256 AM MDT Thu May 7 2026 Subfreezing temperatures will persist into the early morning hours today, assisted by decreased cloud cover. Forecast low temps are still widely in the mid-20s over most of the plains, though temperatures will rebound quickly once the sun rises. Today, very warm and dry across SE Colorado. High temperatures will be in the 60s to low-70s, warmest over the eastern plains, with no expected precip. Winds will also be on the lighter side, leading to a generally mild day. Cool overnight tonight, though the plains are expected to remain above freezing. Current data shows lows in the high-30s to low-40s. Meanwhile, the higher terrain and mountain valleys will be in the 20s-30s. && .LONG TERM /FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/... Surface conditions will be dry, and winds over the higher terrain will be occasionally gusty during the afternoon hours.
