FXUS65 KGJT 220408 AFDGJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Grand Junction CO 1008 PM MDT Sat Mar 21 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Hot and dry weather continues through the seven-day forecast with the chance to set daily high temperature records each afternoon. - Hot, dry, and windy conditions will lead to critical weather concerns this afternoon in areas where fuels are deemed critical. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1005 PM MDT Sat Mar 21 2026 There is little change expected through the coming week. High pressure continues to dominate the southwest, and the jet remains to our north. Moisture and the occasional wave moving through that jet will bring passing high clouds, and perhaps a light shower or two to the northern mountains during the afternoons. Any showers that develop will most likely be virga, thanks to very dry surface levels. In addition, breezy winds are expected most afternoons which, when combined with the already hot and dry airmass, will lead to the potential for critical fire weather conditions where fuels are deemed critical. Highs tomorrow "cool" 5-10 degrees, though they remain 10-15 degrees above normal. Overall, temperatures will remain 15-25 degrees above normal, with record high temperatures being challenged daily. && .AVIATION /00Z TAFS THROUGH 00Z MONDAY/... Issued at 550 PM MDT Sat Mar 21 2026 Gusty winds will remain through the rest of the daylight hours with gusts 25 to 40 mph at times. VFR conditions will prevail under partly to mostly clear skies with some scattered/broken high clouds streaming through. Winds on Sunday afternoon will be breezy at times but overall much lighter than today. && .GJT WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... CO...None. UT...None. && $$ DISCUSSION...BGB AVIATION...TGJT
