KEY MESSAGES: - Seasonably cool temperatures with breezy conditions are expected through most of the week. - A few showers are possible with a weak frontal passage Wednesday night. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Stacked low over the Canadian prairies will be slow to move eastward with a blocking high over eastern Canada. Through midweek the trough extending south across the plains will stretch and under cut the Canadian high and allow high pressure to build into the western states. A Pacific shortwave moving through the Pacific Northwest will slide along the Canadian border and push a weak front across eastern Montana on Wednesday night. Not a lot of moisture with the system, but a few showers are possible, mainly in the northeast corner of the state. Ridge rebounds behind the shortwave into the weekend with potential for a much stronger system moving through the region over the weekend. FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS: Better consensus developing regarding the forecast through Thursday.
