KEY MESSAGES: - Temperatures will continue to warm into the weekend with highs above 90 expected on Saturday. - Marginal Fire Weather concerns may arise with slightly lower humidity and slightly stronger winds than currently expected on Saturday. - Unsettled weather pattern develops next week with cooling temperatures and chances for rain. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: Upper ridge will be building into the northern plains over the next few days with hot and dry conditions expected. Temperatures are expected to top out above 90s degrees across much of the region on Saturday with a corresponding relative humidity in the teens. Fire weather concerns for Saturday may increase if forecast winds become stronger and/or forecast humidity drops more. Saturday night the high pressure ridge gives way to a new encroaching low pressure system from the west, which will allow for increasing chances for off-and-on showers and thunderstorms each day next week, with overall average confidence becoming greater with time. Concurrent model runs have shown than next week could result in a wet and active weather pattern for our region with multiple days of off and on rain accumulations.
