KEY MESSAGES:



- Dry and mild weather is expected to continue.



- Thursday looks to be the warmest day and quite warm for 

  February especially over the southern zones.

  

WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW:

Sharp upper ridge over the Pacific NW flattens and spreads east

later this week, keeping Montana mild and dry.



Surface low tracks will remain to our north with one sending a

warm front through the area Wednesday followed by a weak and dry

cool front Wednesday night. With ample sunshine, bare ground and

better mixing for Thursday for most of the CWA, temps should be 

about 20-30 degrees above normal. That's near 50 for the northern

zones with 60s for the southern zones. Fortunately, mid-level 

winds do not look strong (20-35 kts) so fire weather conditions do

not seem to be a concern at this point.



The upper ridge will continue to flatten through the weekend with

a Pacific trough moving in early next week that could bring some

light precipitation.



FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:



Confidence is HIGH in above average temperatures for the area for the

next several days.



Minor deviations from the NBM were made to pops late today and to

high temps Thursday, blending with NBM75. TFJ

FLIGHT CAT RANGE: VFR. IFR possible Wednesday morning.



DISCUSSION: Other that an isolated rain and/or snow shower late

today, conditons should be dry into Wednsday. Low clouds with

patchy fog will move in late tonight but widespread IFR conditions

are not anticipated.



Winds will increase from the SW Wednesday with the low clouds and

any fog being carried east into the Dakotas by the afternoon. TFJ
