FXUS65 KFGZ 221943 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 1243 PM MST Sun Mar 22 2026 .SYNOPSIS...Summer-like high pressure will continue this week, with temperatures reaching up to 25 degrees above normal. Please exercise appropriate precautions if you are planning on any outdoor activity. Breezy southwest winds and low humidity are also expected. && .DISCUSSION...Passing trough to the north has temporarily flattened and shoved our ridge to the south. This, along with some mid and high level clouds has definitely cooled our temperatures off a good 5-10 degrees from the last few days, however we're still in record heat territory, and will continue to remain so for the rest of the week. On Tuesday the ridge will begin to flex back northward with temperatures again flirting with 80 up at 7000 ft and near 90 around 5000 ft by Wednesday. A slow cooldown begins Thursday into the weekend as another weak shortwave brushes by weakening and shoving the ridge back south again. There are some indications in the long range models of an increase in moisture possibly as soon as next Sunday. Confidence is still very low on precipitation and what we do get would most likely be in the form of rain. However its the only glimmer of hope at this time for some much needed precipitation for the area. Will keep monitoring and will see if this does indeed pan out. && .AVIATION...Sunday 22/18Z through Monday 23/18Z...VFR conditions.
