- Very hot temperatures Thursday through Saturday.



- Smoky conditions continue through the week.



- Breezy winds Friday through the weekend with very low

  thunderstorm chances returning along the ID/NV border.

.SHORT TERM /Through Friday Night/...

The warming reaches its zenith tomorrow through Saturday, with 

maximum temperatures in lower elevations above 100 degrees. Even

though overnight low temperatures are in the 60s throughout the

area providing some relief, a Heat Advisory has been issued due

to the very hot daytime temperatures. Some local areas with 

morning lows around 70 degrees will be under Major Heat Risk 

Friday and Saturday, while the rest of the area with morning 

lows in the 60s and 50s see Moderate to Minor Heat Risk. As the 

driving upper level ridge flattens Friday, afternoon wind gusts 

pick up especially in Idaho. Beginning friday through the 

weekend, wind gusts 20 to 30 mph are possible in open areas and 

ridges. Elsewhere, gusts up to 20 mph are possible.

.LONG TERM /Saturday through Wednesday/...

A ridge of high pressure will remain over Utah through the 

extended period. Temperatures will be 5-10 degrees above normal 

with lower valleys in the low 100s Saturday. Monsoon moisture 

will reach far SE Oregon and southwest ID south of the Snake 

Basin on Saturday afternoon and continue through early next 

week. Current forecast does not reflect this but there will be a

slight chance of thunderstorms along the NV border on Saturday 

and Sunday afternoons. Westerly flow will suppress the ridge on 

Monday, bringing slightly cooler temperatures with dry and 

breezy conditions. Smoky conditions will continue from area 

wildfires which may keep temperatures slightly cooler than 

forecast.

Reduced visibility due to wildfire smoke, with areas of MVFR-IFR and 

mountain obscuration, otherwise low VFR. High density altitude 

during afternoon due to heat. Surface winds: variable 5-10 kt. 

Winds aloft at 10kft MSL: W-NW 5-15 kt shifting to SW 5-15kt by 

18z/Thu.



KBOI...low VFR due to wildfire smoke. Surface winds: NW 5-10kt 

becoming SE 5-10kt after sunset.
