FXUS65 KBOI 050948 AFDBOI Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Boise ID 248 AM MST Thu Nov 5 2026 .KEY MESSAGES... - Near to slightly above normal temperatures through Friday. - Isolated showers north of Baker City to McCall today. - Above normal temperatures and mostly dry over the weekend into early next week. Stagnant conditions in the lower valleys with temperature inversions possible. && .SHORT TERM /Through Saturday Night/... A weak upper level trough will move across the area today. This will bring isolated showers north of Baker City to McCall, with about a 10% chance of showers across the central Idaho mountains this afternoon. A dusting of snow will be possible in the mountains above 4500-6000 feet MSL. Elsewhere, it will be dry with decreasing clouds this afternoon. Highs will be near normal, and winds today will be locally breezy with gusts up to 20 mph south of Boise. An upper level ridge will build across the area Friday and Saturday, bringing dry conditions and warming temperatures. Skies will be mostly cloudy on Friday but mostly clear on Saturday. Warming will be aided by southwest flow aloft that develops in response to a trough approaching the Washington coast on Saturday, with highs reaching around 10 degrees above normal. This system will also result in breezy southeast winds across the area. Patchy fog will develop each night through the end of the week in sheltered basins. && .LONG TERM /Sunday through Thursday/... The pattern through the extended will consist of a broad upper level ridge extending across the western/central CONUS while a longwave trough persists over the Gulf of Alaska and clips the Pacific Northwest. This will place our area in southwest flow aloft and keep temperatures 10-15 degrees above normal. A system moving across Washington on Sunday and another weak system on Monday will produce a 10-20% chance of showers across the north with only increased clouds to the south. Additional systems will move to the north through midweek, with precipitation chances gradually rising to 20-30% across the north by Thursday. Winds will be breezy on Sunday and again Wednesday/Thursday as systems pass by to the north. However, light winds Monday and Tuesday and the ridge of high pressure may result in stagnant valley conditions and temperature inversions. && .AVIATION /06Z Thursday through Friday/...
