(Friday night through next Thursday) Issued at 150 PM CDT Thu May 8 2025 The long term period will be relatively quiet. A closed low will break off from the flow aloft and sit over the east Texas and Louisiana area for this weekend and the start of next week. Dry air will be brought into the area thanks to the north/northeast flow around the upper low. At the surface, north/northeast winds will persist through the weekend, allowing temperatures to remain below normal through Sunday. However, conditions will start to heat up for next week. Upper level ridging will begin to move into the area on Monday, pushing the low off to the east. At the same time, at lower levels, winds will turn back to the south and an 850 mb thermal ridge will build into the area. By the time we reach Tuesday and Wednesday, highs will be in the mid to upper 90s and potentially even in the triple digits. We currently have a medium chance (30- 70%) that areas south of the Big Country will reach at least 100 degrees on Wednesday. Much of the area could see their first 100 degree day of the year next week. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1250 AM CDT Fri May 9 2025 VFR conditions expected the next 24 hours.
