FXUS64 KSJT 050827 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 227 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 ...New SHORT TERM... .KEY MESSAGES... - Drier weather for the rest of the week with no significant weather impacts. - Rain chances increase Saturday and Saturday Night as another upper level storm system approaches. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 227 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 Another mostly sunny and warm day is on tap for the area today, with highs in the lower 70s for the northern Big Country to around 80 for areas southeast of a Brownwood to Sonora line. An upper level trough is currently moving east/southeast from Colorado into the southern plains. This trough will send a dry cold front through the area today. Winds will start light and southerly this morning. As the front moves through, northwest winds will move into the Big Country by early afternoon, eventually making it through the entire area by this evening, with north winds diminishing overnight. Lows Friday morning will drop into the mid to upper 40s. && .LONG TERM... (Friday night through next Thursday) Issued at 1143 PM CST Wed Nov 4 2026 Rain chances will increase on Saturday, as an upper trough moves through the Southwest US, and then closes off across the Southern Rockies and Northern Mexico. Some divergence aloft, along with some lift up and over the old frontal boundary should lead to increased cloud cover Friday night into Saturday morning and the eventually shower development into Saturday Night and Sunday morning. CAMs still have their differences at this range, but general idea of showers becoming more widespread Saturday evening across the area and then maybe mixing in a little thunder Saturday night into Sunday morning as the better lift moves into the area looks on target. Model blends are showing highs in the low 60s on Saturday across the area, but latest data coming in keeps readings in the 50s during the day as the cloud cover develops. Will give it another run or two to make sure its a real trend and the timing maintains before lowering highs, but would not surprise me if highs need to be lowered some. System moves out late Sunday and a weak upper ridge builds into the area. Dry and warmer as less cloud cover means more sunshine. Highs back in the 70s. && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1051 PM CST Wed Nov 4 2026 Little change to forecast reasoning the next 24 hours. Light south winds will prevail overnight, then a wind shift to the northwest will occur tomorrow as a weak cold front moves through. Winds following frontal passage will gust 20 to 25 knots, mainly across the northern terminals for a few hours behind the front. Winds will diminish by early tomorrow evening. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
