FXUS64 KSHV 051843 AFDSHV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Shreveport LA 143 PM CDT Wed Aug 5 2026 ...New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 115 PM CDT Wed Aug 5 2026 - While we will remain below heat headline criteria, summertime heat will persist across the region. - Scattered afternoon showers and thunderstorms will remain possible through Friday across portions of the area. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 115 PM CDT Wed Aug 5 2026 Upper-level ridging remains centered over the Four Corners region this afternoon, with our area remaining on the eastern peripheral. There will be little movement with this ridge throughout the rest of the week. This will continue to influence our area in a couple of ways. The heat will remain the main factor, with hot temperatures continuing through the weekend and into next week. Granted this is fairly normal for this time of the year, it looks like are dewpoints are mixing out well each day, and should continue to do so, which should keep us under the 105 degree threshold for any heat headlines. Similar to today, afternoon showers and thunderstorms will remain possible across areas generally south of I-30 through Friday, with the greater chances further to the south and east you get in the area. For the start of next week, our area could be sandwiched between two high pressure systems, the aforementioned one over the Four Corners and one that has been hanging out over the southeast CONUS. If this happens, that could increase some of our chances for precipitation, although models are not in very good agreement to this at this time. That being said, we will continue running with the NBM for precipitation for next week which will keep our chances very limited. /33/ && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 115 PM CDT Wed Aug 5 2026 A SCT Cu field has developed and is expected to persist areawide until just after sunset (06/03Z), with a few of these sticking around through Thursday morning. There is ongoing SCT convection in our Southern airspace, with more spotty development possible later areawide. Due to the spottiness and lack of confidence in exact placement of convection, TAFs will be amended as needed for any terminals. Otherwise, expect S-SW winds around 5-10KTS, with these winds relaxing slightly overnight. /Ozimek/Pendleton/ && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
