FXUS64 KSHV 050700 AFDSHV Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Shreveport LA 100 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 ...New DISCUSSION, AVIATION, SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 1216 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 - Cooler and drier air has arrived in the area with more seasonable temperatures through the end of this work week. - A secondary cold front arrives early on Friday with reinforcing high pressure and a slight chance for some light showers in our I-30 corridor around daybreak. - Below average highs and lows will settle in areawide for a super weekend with partly to mostly cloudy skies and a few showers early Sunday in a few NE and deep E TX counties. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1216 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 A nice Pacific air mass has cooled our temperatures and dried the air as this 1013mb air mass currently extends over all of the Four-State area. As such, our winds will be light and variable for much of the day ahead. We do see a secondary air mass diving out of Canada which will gather limited moisture over I-30 late tonight and early Friday morning with a few light showers possible, but more importantly fresh N/NE winds with even lower dew points. So we will see our diurnal temps take a step back to below average for a nicer change for this coming weekend. This next continental air mass will bring a 1024mb core over the middle MS River Valley by early Saturday morning. So,our morning lows will see more 40s by Saturday and then areawide for Sunday with a few mid to upper 30s in our Arkansas counties closer to the core. The N/NE winds will keep the mercury below the room temperature average with many 60s for highs by Sunday and to start next week as well. A warmer trend will follow slowly climbing back through the 70s. Lows will keep below average for much longer as nights continue to grow longer with lingering dry air. The pattern remains surface high pressure strong into midweek with a weakening upper low moving over Mexico and south TX. This feature will be riding under an upper ridge over the plains states and end up deepening again, but just no moisture in the wake of this weekend's air mass. /24/ && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1216 AM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 For the 05/06Z TAF period, VFR conditions prevail over our airspace to begin the period with just some thin cirrus passing overhead. As we get closer to daybreak, the main concern through Thursday morning will be the potential for areas of dense fog as temperatures quickly cool to near saturation after midnight. Winds will generally remain calm overnight through mid to late morning, further supporting fog development with tempo conditions for IFR/LIFR vsby restrictions at most sites. Fog should dissipate by late morning with VFR conditions prevailing through the remainder of the period as winds remain light and mostly variable under the influence of sfc high pressure. /19/ && .SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT...
