FXUS64 KOUN 122350 AFDOUN Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Norman OK 550 PM CST Fri Dec 12 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 546 PM CST Fri Dec 12 2025 - Temperatures plunge into the 30s on Sunday; otherwise near or above-normal conditions for much of the next week. - No chances for precipitation through the next seven days. && .NEAR TERM... (Rest of today and tonight) Issued at 1210 PM CST Fri Dec 12 2025 Today features breezy north winds and cooler temperatures (50s / 60s) behind a front that is moving through. Currently the front is draped southeast of the I-44 corridor. Fire weather will be limited by higher RH values (RH minimums in southern OK and north TX are expected to be in the mid 30s). Winds will decrease later this afternoon, becoming light overnight. Overnight lows will be in the mid 20s to mid 30s. Day && .SHORT TERM... (Saturday through Sunday night) Issued at 1210 PM CST Fri Dec 12 2025 Another front is expected to enter northern Oklahoma Saturday afternoon. This will add some uncertainty for high temperatures, depending on how fast the colder airmass moves in. Interquartile ranges range from 5 to 10 degrees across the area. Generally should expect 50s to 60s for highs (with the highest temperatures occurring southwest). Breezy winds will develop behind the front Saturday night as temperatures drop into the mid teens to mid 20s. Together, this will produce wind chills in the singles digits and teens Sunday morning. Sunday will be quite chilly with highs in the 30s and lower 40s under mostly clear skies. By Sunday night, winds will shift back around to southerly, setting us up for a quick rebound in temperatures early next week. Day && .LONG TERM... (Monday through Thursday) Issued at 1215 AM CST Fri Dec 12 2025 The cold spell looks to be short-lived, with temperatures returning to a near or above-normal state by Monday. Outside of a more amplified upstream upper ridge, most global and ensemble guidance captures a compact southern stream wave moving across the region on Tuesday. While another frontal passage is possible with this system, sensible impact appears limited (or nil), with near to above-normal temperatures and mostly dry surface weather continuing throughout much of next week. Ungar && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 549 PM CST Fri Dec 12 2025 VFR conditions will continue at most terminals through the TAF period. The possible exception is at Durant (KDUA), where there is a 50 to 70% chance of MVFR stratus near or just after sunrise tomorrow. Light north to northeast winds will become light and variable late tonight as winds become southerly by tomorrow morning. A cold front/northerly wind shift will move through tomorrow afternoon, shifting the winds back toward the north. Mahale && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
