A cold front across northern OK has not brought much in the way of relief, though increased clouds are keeping things a couple degrees cooler compared to other areas. A stray shower or storm with gusty winds can't be ruled out across far northern OK in the vicinity of the front, but dry conditions are expected to prevail for the vast majority of the area through tonight. (Thursday through Friday night) Issued at 147 PM CDT Wed Aug 5 2026 Thursday and Friday will be quite similar to today, with low shower/storm chances across northern OK and hot conditions in place areawide. Models have trended lower with PoPs over the last couple days but have retained 15-30% chances north of I-40. With extensive DCAPE over the area, the stronger storms will be capable of producing isolated damaging wind gusts during the afternoon and early evening. Otherwise, the rest of the area can expect a continuation of hot and dry weather with heat indices over 105 degrees expected across much of central and southern OK both Thursday and Friday afternoons.
