FXUS64 KMOB 221828 AFDMOB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 128 PM CDT Sun Mar 22 2026 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 123 PM CDT Sun Mar 22 2026 - Temperatures will remain well above normal through next week. - Moderate to extreme drought along with little to no rain in the forecast through next week will exacerbate wildfire activity. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 123 PM CDT Sun Mar 22 2026 Little change in the forecast from yesterday as we likely wont see much rain for the remainder of the period with no real sign of rain for a good part of the end of March. A rather anomalous strong upper ridge continues to be firmly planted over the southwestern US allowing for northwesterly flow aloft to persist for most of the next two weeks or so. The only hint of rain looks to come late Tuesday into Wednesday where a subtle upper shortwave will progress through the northwesterly flow bringing a weak boundary down to the Gulf coast. Moisture and lift will be rather limited but an isolated to possibly scattered shower could occur late Tuesday night into Wednesday. With the weak boundary moving in and increased cloud cover, the only real change was to lower high temperatures on Tuesday as the backdoor front moves through the area. Other than that the main concern will be our likely worsening drought conditions across the area.Temperatures will remain mild with highs in the low to mid 80s and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s. We will likely have to keep an eye on some rounds of patchy fog tonight and possibly later in the week with higher moisture and overall calm clear conditions. BB-8 && .AVIATION... Sky and vsby ok thru early evening. There are indications that a low-level cig deck could develop by and after 23.09Z along with potential of BR reducing vsby to MVFR/IFR categories thru daybreak Monday at KMOB. Other sites appear to remain at VFR categories at this time. Will monitor. /10 && .MARINE...
