FXUS64 KMOB 220732 AFDMOB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 232 AM CDT Sun Mar 22 2026 ...New MARINE... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 232 AM CDT Sun Mar 22 2026 - Temperatures will remain well above normal through next week. - Moderate to extreme drought along with little to no rain in the forecast through next week will exacerbate wildfire activity. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 1038 PM CDT Sat Mar 21 2026 A northwesterly flow aloft persists over the area through midweek as an upper ridge builds over the southwestern states and a broad upper trof pattern tends to prevail over much of the eastern states. A surface low passes well off to the north and brings a weak frontal boundary through the forecast area on Monday. Deep layer moisture remains limited and am not expecting precipitation with the passing front. Changes in the pattern occur later in the week and into Saturday with the upper ridge first building across the southeast states then weakening as a large upper trof evolves over much of the eastern states. Another frontal boundary looks to move through the forecast area between Friday and Friday night, but again deep layer moisture looks too limited to support precipitation. Overall am expecting dry and warm conditions to prevail through Saturday, though a series of shortwaves could allow for some spotty convection to develop Tuesday night into Wednesday. Some patchy fog could develop mainly over interior areas late tonight and again Sunday night. Highs each day tend to be in the lower to mid 80s inland and in the mid to upper 70s at the coast, except for a bit warmer on Thursday and Friday. Lows each night tend to range from the mid 50s to around 60. /29 && .AVIATION... (06Z TAFS) Issued at 1212 AM CDT Sun Mar 22 2026 VFR flight category prevails across the forecast area through the day today. Patchy fog can't be ruled out in the low lying spots of the area just prior to daybreak temporarily reducing flight category. Winds remain out of the southwest generally near or less than 5 knots the rest of tonight, increasing mid to late morning to around 10 knots gusting 15 to 20 knots at times. MM/25 && .MARINE...
