Issued at 107 PM CST Mon Feb 2 2026 Surface high pressure centered across our area will move slowly eastward through Tuesday, allowing light surface winds to shift southwesterly, thus bringing a moderation in temperatures. Low temperatures tonight will range from 33 to 38 degrees inland, around 40 degrees closer to the coast, and range from 45 to 50 degrees along the beaches. High temps on Tuesday will be about 2 to 7 degrees above normal, ranging from 65 to 70 degrees. Northwest flow aloft will become zonal late tonight through Tuesday, and then southwesterly midweek as a shortwave approaches our region from the northwest. Latest model guidances are now indicating a weak surface low pressure area developing across southeast Mississippi into east central Alabama by midnight Tuesday night, and advancing eastward across central and southern Alabama through noon Wednesday. An associated cold front on the back side of the low is expected to pass through our area late Tuesday night through Wednesday morning. Numerous to widespread showers will occur Tuesday night ahead of the shortwave and cold front. Most of these showers will be southeast of the I-65 corridor Wednesday morning, and then taper off from northwest to southeast in the afternoon. A thunderstorm or two is possible along the Florida coast late Tuesday night into early Wednesday morning. Dry weather conditions are forecast through the remainder of the week and over the weekend. There will be a brief drop in temperatures Wednesday night through Thursday night in the wake of the front, but highs Friday will rebound into the lower to middle 60s, and range from 65 to 70 degrees over the weekend. Beach Forecast: A LOW risk of rip currents will occur through Tuesday afternoon, briefly becoming MODERATE Tuesday night as southwesterly winds increase over the Gulf, and remaining MODERATE through Wednesday afternoon.
